Brazilian ethanol imports are expected to total 1.02 billion litres from January to June 15, considering first ships scheduled to deliver the product to the Latin American country this month, according to Datagro consultancy firm, according to Brazil's DCI newspaper.

This volume is equivalent to an increase of 26.4% compared to the total volume acquired during all the 12 months of 2016, when purchases reached a total of 813.53 million litres.

About 619.73 million litres of total ethanol imports this year were discharged at ports in the north and northeast regions, equivalent to 60.3% of total imports.

According to Datagro, there are already four ships scheduled to deliver 98.06 million litres in June. At the same period last year, Brazil imported 15.21 million litres of the biofuel.
