Sugaronline India Report – Uncertainties about India’s sugar production continue

India’s final sugar output for the current season remains unsettled, but it is clear that production will be lower. The combination of reduced output and the resumption of exports has led to a firming up of sugar prices, which should help millers improve their operating margins.
The Indian Sugar and Bioenergy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) has lowered its sugar production forecast for the current crushing season which started on October 1, 2024. Thus, in its second advance estimate, the ISMA has projected sugar output (net of ethanol diversion) at approximately 27.27 million tonnes, a 7% decline from its initial and more optimistic
