Sugaronline India Report: Worsening feedstock shortage for the Indian sugar and ethanol industry – 17th March, 2025

A severe shortage of cane-based feedstock has prompted New Delhi to incentivise multi-feedstock distilleries for ethanol production. However, with crude oil prices moderating and sugar prices strengthening, mills are likely to allocate more cane toward sugar production, expecting better realisation from the sweetener.
