Sugar Semi-Annual Report, Thailand – 5th October 2020

Sugarcane production in MY2020/21 is forecast to decrease by 2.6 percent from MY2019/20 to 73.9 MMT. Demand for sugar was curbed both for domestic consumption and exportations due to lockdown measures and the global pandemic recession. MY2019/20 and MY2020/21 sugar exports are revised downward to 7 MMT and 7.25 MMT, respectively.
