Sugaronline India Report – There is no end to policy changes for the Indian sugar industry

Lower than expected output and government refusal to hike the minimum sale price of sugar cap the benefit of supportive market prices to the country’s milling sector.
The National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NSF) has pruned down its previous (September 2022) forecast of India’s sugar output from 35.5 million tonnes to 32.7 million tonnes for the current sugar season, after accounting for as much as 4.5 million tonnes in ethanol diversion. This is slightly lower than the estimate (of April 25)
